Tasks for Human Rights Exploration

First Block.

Watch this video. (If it doesn't work try here: Website- watch history of human rights).

Write your ideas in your writing book.

What is your definition of Human Rights?

Why do we have them?

Where did they come from?

Why is it important to know about human rights?

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIND OUT ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS?

2). Select a Whakatauki or proverb from the below list.
What does it mean?
Try to represent it as an image- without using words.

He waka eke noa
A canoe which we are all in with no exception

He panehe toki ka tu te tangitangi kai.
A little axe well-used brings heaps of food.

I AM ME, YOU ARE YOU BUT WE CAN GO ON TOGETHER AS ONE
KO AU KO AU, KO KOE KO KOE, ME HAERE NGATAHI TAUA. KOTAHITANGA
HE ORANGA NGAAKAU, HE PIKINGA WAIORA
POSITIVE FEELINGS IN YOUR HEART WILL ENHANCE YOUR SENSES OF SELF WORTH.
He taonga rongonui te aroha ki te tangata
Goodwill towards others is a precious treasure

He panehe toki ka tu te tangitangi kai.
A little axe well-used brings heaps of food.

Be the change you wish to see in the world- Mahatma Ghandi
WHIRIA TE TANGATA
WEAVE THE PEOPLE TOGETHER

AHAKOA HE ITI HE POUNAMU
EVEN THOUGH IT IS SMALL IT IS A TREASURE
Do a draft copy.
Then we will show another R11 person for feedback. DO NOT HELP THEM- what do they see in your image? What ideas do they get?
DO NOT TELL THEM what your proverb is!!!

Make changes to your image to make it communicate the message better- show your person again. Talk it through with them. What other changes do they suggest to help communicate the message of your proverb?
If you are happy with it, add the proverb somewhere on your image, we will do a good copy on Friday morning- be ready!!!
